Many brides are unsure of what to do with their wedding outfit after the wedding, unlike a suit which can easily be worn as a whole, or as individual pieces, a gown is a little harder to restyle. We have searched for some fantastic options for you to consider in the time after your wedding day.
Preserve and Display
Have your dress professionally cleaned after the wedding, and then preserve it as it currently is. This is perfect for those that want to keep your dress for sentimental reasons or to pass it on to a family member in the future. Store it according to your dry cleaner’s instructions – usually in a dry, dark area in a box with PH-neutral tissue paper to prevent discolouration.
Additionally, you can have your dress professionally framed and use it as a literal piece of art in your house. Not only will it look fantastic, but it will conjure up some fabulous memories every time you look at it!
This is the perfect time to check for any embellishments or sequins that may need fixing. If there are any, reach out to your seamstress asap.
Sell your dress
If you don’t intend on keeping or reusing your dress, and do not have anyone to pass it on to, it may be a good idea to sell your dress if it doesn’t hold a sentimental value to yourself. You can check out eBay, Vinted, etc. Or perhaps speak with your local dress shops – they may even clean it for you as well!

Donate it
There are MANY charities across the country that accept wedding dresses, such as Dresses for Angels, The British Red Cross, and Cherished Gowns UK. These charities either help low-income people/students with prom or wedding dresses or can convert your wedding dress into multiple outfits for stillborn children. You can also google for any local charities that suit what you are looking for.
Repurpose your gown
Speak to your seamstress (or set up your own sewing machine if you are comfortable doing so), and have your wedding gown converted, refurbished, or dyed to suit a future were. Whether you opt for an evening gown or a two-piece that you can were regularly.
Home Decor
As above, you could repurpose your wedding gown into home decor, or accessories. From bedding, and blankets, to fabric artwork, the options are endless. Additionally, you could consider converting your veil, or any other accessory too!
