Good morning everyone. I hope you are surviving January! Whether you are on a new health kick at the start of the year, or desperately waiting for pay day to come so you can get out again – I have another lovely feel good engagement story for you. Our REAL BRIDE Vanessa is one of the cutest brides around. Her excitement for her wedding day is contagious and she is totally rocking all things wedding planning. We are excited to be following her journey as she plans for her big day in May 2020 at St. Mary’s in Hitchin and her Tipi reception at Walkern Hall. She will keep us posted on how booking her local wedding suppliers goes, and any helpful tips and tricks she learns on the way. So we thought we better introduce you first. Here is the lovely Vanessa.
After some not-so-great relationship experiences, I had resigned myself to a ten year (multiple) dog plan. My friends thought I was giving up on love a little too early and encouraged me to join an online dating app, one where you swipe left or right, and this is where I met Tom.
One rainy winter evening we met for our first date at a cosy country pub in Datchworth. One date turned into two, then three, and we continued to see each other every week. The last three years have flown by and we have shared and created so many memories.
Tom has a passion for travelling and has introduced me to so many places during our time together, whilst I have a passion for dogs (you may have guessed this by now). I thought I would combine the two, so in August Tom and I flew to Zakynthos for a week’s holiday. Zakynthos has always held a special place in my heart as I volunteer with a dog charity called Zante Strays based on the island and have adopted two rescue dogs. I was really excited to share this with Tom, and we spent the week touring the island. On the Friday before we were due to fly home we went for a lovely meal and then walked along the beach to watch the sunset over Zakynthos Town in the distance. It was so peaceful and when the beach was empty, Tom got down on one knee. I was so surprised and I still cannot remember a thing that Tom said other than those fours words, ‘Will you marry me?’.
Tom and I have spent the past few months enjoying our engagement, but I feel I am now in full swing of wedding planning. We have set a date in May 2020, booked our church and reception venue, started booking local suppliers, and am spending copious amounts of time on Pinterest looking for fun DIY ideas. I am a born organiser and love nothing more than planning, whereas Tom is more laid back, so I have taken the lead with all the wedmin.
I cannot wait to marry and spend the rest of my life with Tom. Not only have I found my husband, but luckily, Tom’s fondness for dogs is growing, so I may also get my ten year dog plan after all!
We are so excited for you Vanessa and are so pleased you are a part of our Engage Brides Community. We love hearing how people found love and couldn’t be happier helping you with any wedding planning needs!
