Choosing your food may feel like a simple task, but there is a lot to consider. Whether you opt for a sit-down meal, a grazing table, or even a fun food truck, there are many options for your wedding day catering. Your food is likely to take up a large chunk of your budget, so to help you get it right, we have 20 questions you should ask your caterer or venue.

- How many events will you be catering for that day?
- What are your maximum or minimum numbers?
- Do you specialise in a particular cuisine?
- What are your most popular dishes?
- Do you have set menus, or can we order bespoke meals?
- What can you offer for a particular dietary requirement, i.e. vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, kosher, halal?
- What can you provide for children and vendors/suppliers? What is the cost?
- What do your costs involve (is VAT included)?
- Are condiments, linen, cutlery, crockery, glasses, tables, chairs and service included in the quote?
- Are there any additional fees for the wedding running over, etc.?
- Do you charge for menu tastings, and when do they take place?
- Can I see reviews/speak with couples you’ve worked with previously?
- Do you provide a bar? What are the costs?
- What brands of alcohol do you serve?
- Can you accommodate speciality cocktails?
- Is the champagne toast included in the cost?
- How many servers will there be?
- How long do you need to set up?
- When do I need to pay my final balance? Provide final numbers/menu choices?
