Katie’s search for the perfect wedding dress

Katie's search for the perfect wedding dress_engageweddings

Our ‘real bride’ Katie is still searching for the perfect dress for her 2018 wedding. Find out how she got on when she visited Amelia George Bridal in Tring, earlier this month.

One of the benefits of being an Engage Weddings ‘Real Bride’ is being invited to exclusive events. On Sunday 8th of October I was invited to attend a bridal day at Amelia George bridal. The Tring based boutique specialises in discounted designer dresses, so I was excited to see what I could find for my limited budget. The owner Katherine was great at communicating with me right up to the day of the event, she put in so much effort which was amazing.

During my visit to the boutique Katherine only showed me dresses within my price range so I couldn’t get my heart set on something which was unrealistic.

The afternoon consisted of trying on dresses as well as being pampered with a hair and makeup session. Once the hair and makeup were complete I was taken through to a room to try on all of the dresses that I had narrowed down. The room was so big and spacious which I loved!! The dresses where lovely. Before my visit I had Googled the boutique and had looked through the pictures of the dresses online, but I couldn’t see myself liking any of them. I don’t think the photos online of the dresses on mannequins do them any favours. The dresses are beautiful and I was so pleased to have been into the boutique to see them for myself.

Katherine really went above and beyond during our visit. I had asked if she could help me to ask my friend to be my maid of honour – which she did by presenting her with a gift bag tied with balloons. It was a lovely and unexpected shock for my friend, and really added to our day.

I really liked the dresses I tried on but one really stole my heart. I could really imagine it being the one, but there were a few alterations I wanted to add to make it perfect! Katherine really supported my ideas of changing the sleeves and neckline to make it more my style, I’m not sure how many other bridal boutique owners would have been so supportive. I loved that she could understand my vision for the dress and she even offered to make the changes for me. Unfortunately the amount of changes I wanted meant that the cost was too high, and wasn’t possible within my budget.

My hunt for my perfect wedding dress continues, but once I find it I hope to take another trip to Amelia George to find the perfect accessories to match. If you are still looking for the perfect dress then book an appointment with Katherine, I can’t recommend her enough.
