Every couple has a different idea of what their dream wedding will be, whether it be a private affair on a romantic beach, a grand country house with 200 guests, or something more traditional in a village church. For some people, though, only Las Vegas will do – the perfect combination of glittering excitement and everything you could possibly want right there in one place, and plenty of other entertainment for everyone pre- and post-ceremony.

So what makes Vegas such a draw for people? Well, the first thing to consider is that, while wanting a unique wedding is one thing, there’s a lot of comfort to be drawn from the fact that Las Vegas handles a lot of weddings every year – north of 100,000. That’s an incredible amount of experience stored up in the local area, and you can rest assured that, depending on what type of wedding you’re after, they’ve seen it before and know how to deliver it!

It’s also worth bearing in mind that there are a vast number of different types of wedding available. From the gorgeous surroundings of the Bellagio hotel to the intense wilderness feel of the Valley of Fire, and from the smallest wedding chapel to the grandest event imaginable, Las Vegas is well set up to take care of your every need.

The hotel situation in Vegas is obviously ideal, with options to suit all budgets if you’re bringing a crowd, and entertainment of all types – a significant slice of people who regularly go to Vegas never gamble, since with all the shows, restaurants and other activities, there’s plenty to do. It’s a fact that some of the best restaurants and shows in the world can be found in Sin City, and if you have a diverse group of guests, there’s something for everyone, including kids.

From the legal standpoint, you just need to get a licence in town and get the whole thing verified on your return, which is all pretty straightforward. It can all be planned very simply from the UK, and large group bookings really aren’t a problem, they’re so used to these kind of events it’s all pretty much clockwork. To give an example of how simple it can be, my wife and I were married in Vegas 9 years ago. We didn’t want a big fuss – in fact we didn’t even tell anyone – so just the two of us, and our two witnesses (cocktail waitresses from New York New York) rolled up at our pre-booked appointment at the Graceland Chapel and tied the knot ! We had the option of getting married by Elvis, but decided that was a bit too cheesy for us, so went with the regular minister. Not being ones to plan too far, we had booked a local photographer, and after the shots were taken in a couple of classic Vegas locations (Bellagio fountains and skybar view from Voodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio), we headed for a patio bar overlooking the Strip and grabbed a bottle of champagne to celebrate. The whole thing involved minimal planning, actually minimal cost, and was exactly what we wanted. If we’d wanted to have 40 guests and a huge upscale affair, though, it would have been pretty easily accommodated.

Our wedding experience was part of what led me to create www.vegasunwrapped.co.uk – I’m now an independent host for some of the Las Vegas casinos, meaning we can offer incredible discounts on accommodation in Vegas. We can also offer advice on how to plan your wedding, and while we’re not wedding planners as such, we can connect you with dedicated professionals in town, or just give you some pointers to help plan your own day.
