Over the next year we will be following two brides through the ups and downs of their wedding planning journey! Our brides will be honest about the process and share with us their thoughts and feelings right up to the moment they say I do!
Our first bride is 24 year old Katie from Hertfordshire. She is marrying her childhood sweetheart Joel in June 2018. We caught up with Katie to find out more about her relationship – and where she is up to in her wedding planning journey so far.
Where did you and Joel meet?
We met at school back in 2005 and have been childhood sweethearts ever since. We have two children, and have decided the time has now come to get married.
How did Joel Propose?
Joel proposed last year when we were on holiday in Rome – so romantic!
What’s your wedding budget?
We are hoping to do the whole wedding for just £4,000. I may not be your typical bride, but I want to show how it’s possible to have a good wedding on a tight budget. When you are trying to juggle work and children, keeping the budget tight is really important.
Tell us about what you have planned?
We are having a church wedding which will be followed by a reception in our local pub. We have it all booked – but have just received a confirmation email from the church with the wrong date on it – wedding drama!! I will keep you posted on how that works out.
Does your wedding have a theme?
We are hoping to achieve a rustic theme for the day. We will also be having a Disney area for my little girls and their friends.
How has your wedding planning journey been so far?
I have found some of the process quite stressful – especially searching for the perfect dress! When trying on dresses everything that I thought I would love looked terrible on me. I recently helped set up for my friends wedding – it was amazing to see how you could transform a boring space into something amazing. We have packed all of the decorations from her wedding away, and will be keeping them to use at our wedding.
What is your top tip for other brides planning their wedding?
Make sure you get your partner on board and get him to help. I have left my partner in charge of booking the wedding car – but he hasn’t done anything yet! I’ve made everyone aware that it’s his job, so hopefully we won’t be turning up to the wedding on the local bus.
We will be following Katie throughout her wedding journey, so make sure you keep following our Facebook page and blog posts to see the latest updates. Are you planning your wedding? Let us know how you are finding the process in the comments below.
