TELL US ABOUT YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS?

I’m a calligrapher, which means that I make art with words, specialising in handwritten wedding stationery and signage. I offer experience and guidance to bring your vision to life with bespoke pieces that guide your guests through the day. Everything I create is lovingly handwritten by me in my unique modern calligraphy style. No generic or printed fonts, only original and beautiful designs that match your theme and personality.

WHY DID YOU START YOUR WEDDING BUSINESS?

After leaving my career as a Retail Visual Manager to become a full-time Mum, I was desperate for a creative outlet. I remembered how my Gran would write in the most beautiful calligraphy and enrolled in an online course in 2017. My hobby very quickly became a passion and around a year later, I launched Clare Warren Calligraphy as an Etsy shop. In the years since, I’ve perfected my art, expanded my product range, and launched my own website. I’ve featured in national magazines, sent signs to Bel Air, and built a business I’m truly proud of.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN WEDDINGS?

I love that I get to contribute to such a big day in people’s lives. Every couple has their own stories and interests, which feed into the ideas for their wedding. No two are ever the same. Your wedding is a rare chance to fill a day with things you love and people get really creative with it. I get so excited by listening to those ideas and then bringing them to life.

WHY DO YOU LOVE WORKING IN WEDDINGS?

It’s always great when a couple know exactly what they want, but I really enjoy collaborating with couples who need a little inspiration. Coming up with new and unusual designs and combinations and seeing people’s eyes light up when we get it just right. Couples who come to me already value the added warmth and attention of handwritten art. I usually see my best work when they’re thinking about their guests and making the day feel special for everyone.

WHY SHOULD SOMEONE BOOK YOU FOR THEIR WEDDING DAY?

WHAT QUESTION DO YOU GET ASKED ALL THE TIME BY COUPLES AND WHAT’S THE ANSWER TO IT?

People are always asking me what font I use. I don’t use a font! Everything I make is handwritten in my own unique calligraphy style, developed over years of practice and perfection. Fonts can be fine, but nothing says ‘I care’ like a handwritten piece.

WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER ONE PIECE OF WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE?

People remember the little things. It’s easy to get hung up on the venue, the dress, the first dance, but if you think about the weddings you’ve been to, it’s often the small, personal touches that stand out. Inspired table names, subtle decor, knowing nods to you, your personalities, your history, and the connections you share with the people who’ve come to wish you well. Don’t forget the small stuff.

DO YOU HAVE A DREAM WEDDING VENUE, LOCATION OR WEDDING THEME THAT YOU WOULD LOVE TO WORK AT?

I generally adore beautiful old barn weddings, but I was lucky enough to provide signage for a truly stunning wedding at one of my most favourite places on Earth. Holkham Hall in Norfolk holds a special place in my heart for many reasons, and knowing that I have added to that, to make it even more meaningful for someone’s most important day, really fills me with pride.
