Insurance

It’s easy to not bother with insurance, it’s unnecessary and you never use it right? However, this is the number one step you must take! Should your beautiful ring get damaged, lost, or stolen, having an insurance policy you can use will at least take some stress away. This will finance the replacement or repair of your ring, although in some cases the policy excess will cost more that the cost of the repair. It is always worth visiting your jewellers to get their advice on whether to claim the repair on your insurance or not.

Resist the Temptation

Resist the urge to take your ring off if you are washing your hands in a public place. There is the chance that your ring could slide down the drain, or you could even walk off without it!

Clean your ring

Day to day our rings collect residue from soaps, creams, body oils and more. To keep your ring in tip top condition you should carry out a periodic steam clean. This will return your ring back to its sparkling glory by removing all the residue.

Avoid Chemicals

Your rings can be made from stones, such as emeralds and sapphires, which are a porous material. Therefore, harsh chemicals can seriously damage them and dull their shine. So ensure you are wearing gloves or remove your ring (ideally whilst at home) when using any chemical products. This will even protect non porous materials such as diamonds.

UNNECESSARY wear and tear

Whilst diamonds are one of the hardest natural elements, they can still get chipped once cut and polished, i.e. for an engagement ring. It is very much advised that you avoid any stress or hard knocks on them by wearing them to the gym or any other physical activity.

Health Checks

It is a great idea to give your ring a regular checkup at your jeweller of choice, as the prongs on your ring can become loose over time. By keeping on top of this you can avoid the worst – losing your stone!

Ring Envy

Your ring is beautiful, it is the symbol of your love and holds such precious memories. Don’t compare yours to any others, whether it costs £5 or £5000, it was picked for you and no-one else’s could surpass it, so make sure you treat it as such!
