When you are in the midst of planning your wedding it can feel like every spare moment involves wedmin! From deciding on the guest list to writing the invitations and making the favours – it can really take over.
Amongst all of your wedding planning chaos it’s important to remember to make time for each other, to keep your relationship growing and to keep the romance alive. Why not ensure you have a weekly date night together – where you talk about life – and not wedding planning.
Date nights don’t have to be complicated, but they can be a lot of fun. Today I want so share with you my 6 favourite date nights in Bedfordshire – to help inspire you to get out and have some non wedding related fun!
1. Take a walk in the Bedfordshire countryside

Bedfordshire is a county full of beautiful countryside landscapes to enjoy. Get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy the fresh air – with a low cost date night. Why not take a walk up in the Barton Hills, stroll along the Bedford riverbank, or take a walk around the lake at the Marston Vale Forest Centre. There is easily accessible parking at each of these destinations and they are all beautiful. Once the walk is over, why not end the evening with a quick drink in one of the local pubs.
2. Work together to escape a locked room!
What better way to test your team work and compatibility than by spending the evening trying to escape from a locked room! Don’t get locked in is a new escape room experience in Leighton Buzzard and you are guaranteed a great evening. If you haven’t tried an escape room yet, it’s a must do experience. You will be locked in a room together and have 60 minutes to complete all the clues and puzzles to find the key and get out! Think Cluedo / The Crystal Maze combined into a fun evening. You could tackle the room as a pair or find a couple of friends for a double date night with a difference.
3. Romantic dinner for 2
Nothing beats a delicious meal for two – a chance to enjoy good food and catch up over a glass of wine. There are numerous restaurants to choose across Bedfordshire with a variety of cuisines to choose from. I love the Flying Horse at Clophill – offering great food and a great atmosphere every night of the week. Why not also check out the Black Horse, Ireland, The Plough at Bolnhurst or the French Horn in Steppingly for great gastro pub experiences. If you want to try something a bit different check out Rice Thai in Bedford for dinner – followed by some cocktails at Bears and Tales.
4. Make a splash at the Aqua Park
Did you know that Bedford is home to one of the UKs biggest inflatable aqua parks! Box End Aqua park includes an inflatable obstacle course as well as new Ninja course. Why not spend the evening together having a lot of fun and laughs whilst attempting to leap across inflatables… without falling in! OK so it’s not the most glamorous of dates, but it’s important to keep an element of fun in your relationship and it will definitely be a night to remember!
5. Relax at the spa
Bedfordshire is home to some amazing spas, so if it’s chill out time you are after then there are plenty of choices. I LOVE the Aqua Sana spa at Center Parcs, Woburn. You can visit as a day visitor and it’s huge. With a variety of sauna and steam rooms to try, an outdoor pool, restaurant and optional treatments, you really can get away from it all and relax. Another favourite is the Champneys Health Spa in Henlow. The spa is set within 150 acres of park land, so it’s an idyllic place to escape for the day, or overnight.
6. Pack a champagne picnic
It may sound simple. but sometimes the simple ideas are the best! Pack up a picnic hamper and find a spot with a beautiful view to enjoy it. Ensure you choose your favourite foods (picnics don’t have to be like a children’s party buffet) and bring the champagne for an extra treat. Why not sit on the Dunstable downs and enjoy the views, or sit beneath the historical ruins at Houghton House in Ampthill and enjoy a breathtaking view.
