The Barns at Redcoats – New Hertfordshire wedding venue review

A warm May evening with a glass of prosecco, surrounded by beautiful countryside and great people – this is how I spent my Thursday evening.

I had been invited to the Barns at Redcoats, nr Hitchin as they opened the doors to their brand new barn wedding venue for their launch party.

The Farmhouse at Redcoats dates back to the 15th Century and is surrounded by beautiful views of the Hertfordshire countryside. I have visited the Farmhouse many times for afternoon tea, dinner and recently a fragrance making hen party.

Until recently I hadn’t even noticed the barn on the site, which has always been there but had been left unused and was falling down. 37 weeks ago building work began on the site and WOW what a transformation. The barn has become a beautifully restored exclusive use barn wedding venue and it is truly stunning.

If you are looking for a Hertfordshire barn wedding venue with a wow factor this certainly has it. The site has been carefully thought through with a car park for your guests, a beautiful courtyard space overlooking the countryside and a bar area that leads through to the main barn.

On arrival at the party we were served Prosecco and Prosecco cocktails. The place was buzzing with people keen to see what the venue had to offer. We were treated to live music from guitarist Luke Scurr and west end singer Rebecca Lisewski which certainly added to the atmosphere. Barbecue food was served in the courtyard and delicious canapés were served throughout the evening.

As part of the evening we were shown a video showing the transformation of the Barn from 37 weeks ago until now. the video was fascinating and I really hope it will be made public for others to see.

As well as the Barn there are a number of new guest bedrooms on site – so it really does have everything. I had the opportunity to see the gorgeous bridal suite – it was very spacious and beautifully decorated. I particularly loved the bathroom with a free standing bath, walk in shower and gorgeous his and hers sinks. It would be a great place to have your bridal preparations or wedding night – I would love to go back one day and stay there myself.

The first weddings are being held at the Barns this summer so it is well worth a visit as part of your venue search. The venue is available on an exclusive use hire and various catering options are available depending on your vision.

It was a fantastic evening and was a great chance to catch up with some other local wedding business owners including La Belle Cake company, Bluemark Entertainment, SA Floristry, Veiled Productions and Ali K Makeup amongst others.  If you’re getting married locally you are so lucky to have some of the best wedding suppliers in the business on your doorstep. It’s always a pleasure to spend time with them.

If you need any supplier or venue recommendations feel free to get in touch via email (becca@engageweddings.co.uk) or join our free brides community on Facebook. I’m always happy to point you in the right direction.
