A ‘Vintage Valentine’ Affair in Cambridge

Wow, this styled shoot by Amy Murphy and her team of talented suppliers is absolutely stunning! They’ve managed to create a vintage vibe while incorporating pops of vibrant colours, showing how there are many ways to interpret a vintage look. We can’t help but be impressed by how everything came together so beautifully, and we know you will agree.

The Idea

When you say the word ‘vintage’ you wouldn’t normally associate this with glitter balls, neon signs, hot pink florals, or gents in Lavender and Deep Red velvet jackets …. but that’s exactly what Amy and her team created at a recent Styled Shoot at the stunning Cambridgeshire wedding venue of Barrington Hall.

The Shoot

On 9th Feb, after months of meticulous planning, Amy’s vision came to life in a multi-partnered collaboration; no detail was left out and everything from the hot pink heart-shaped candles to the grandeur and styling of the venue was impeccably planned and mapped out in a timeline that any Regimental Sargeant Major would be proud of! Amy brought together a team of the most talented and gifted wedding industry suppliers spanning the Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire counties to create a vintage-infused Valentine’s shoot that will light up the grids and sites for every partner involved, and hopefully, provide some ‘out of the box’ thinking for couples planning their special day.

The Inspiration

The inspiration for this shoot came from the desire to bring together the old and the new. To mix up the ‘norm’ and break some of the more ‘traditional’ pre-conceived ideas about what a vintage wedding should be. ‘jazzing up’ a wedding style or vibe. And, with this amazing team, we did just that! You can combine vintage and modern to create an eclectic blend giving you the best of both worlds. After all, a colour palette doesn’t have to be subdued or subtle.

The Bride

The bride encapsulated elegance throughout the day. Opting for a vintage-style robe when getting ready, complete with feather sleeves, and a long sleeve simple wedding down, giving a modern flare to a vintage silhouette. Kim Sandford and Charli Adams worked their magic on our bride’s hair and makeup, going for a more natural /stripped-back look and letting the dress and veil do the talking.

The Groom

Nothing captures the fun of this shoot quite like the groom and best man. Dressed in a Lavender suit jacket the groom compliments the decor with ease, showing that the fun doesn’t have to stop with the venue styling. While the best man brings luxury to the wedding party in his Deep Red velvet jacket, neither upstaging the bride, but rather working well with her.

The Details

If loud and bold is your ‘vibe’ go for it without reservations, from the tablescape to the signage. For example, a cake design from a bygone day can make a wonderful statement piece on a day that oozes modern graces. While your car choice can set the vintage glamour tone. In short, It’s your day – do it your way!
