Wedding planning is both exciting and overwhelming, especially when it comes to choosing the perfect venue. The wedding venue sets the tone for the entire event so it can be challenging to narrow down your choices. We have six tips to help you choose the perfect wedding venue that will make your special day unforgettable.
The size of your wedding
The first thing to consider when building your venue shortlist is the size of your wedding and guestlist. The guestlist will dictate your venue’s required size and how intimate you want the setting.
The location
How far are you willing to travel for your wedding day, and what is best for your family/friends to attend? If you pick quite a rural location, will you need a lot of accommodation options? Is it accessible to your guests? Can you have your dog attend if that’s important to you?
Budget considerations
Keep your budget at the forefront of your mind when making your venue shortlist. Going over budget is not a great place to be starting your wedding planning journey, and may mean you need to may cutbacks on other areas that mean a lot to you, such as florals.
5 tips for planning a wedding on a budget

Visit at different times
Once you have your shortlist try to visit the venue at different times of the day to see how it looks and get an idea of how it may look on your day. Ideally, check out the venue in the same season to have a rough idea of how the venue works in the relevant weather (obviously there is no guarantee on what the weather will be).
Picture your theme/style
Does the venue work for your chosen wedding theme/style? If you are dreaming of a rustic wedding, look for a venue that already has those features. It will cut down on the wedding decor you need to source, and make your wedding planning adventure easier.
Reviews are important
Check out the reviews of every supplier and vendor you are considering for your wedding day. Nothing will give you a better idea of what to expect quite like words from actual couples who have used them!
