It’s back! Our 2018 Wedding Cake Trends was a hit and so we knew you would be back for more in 2019! Wedding Cake trends are one of my favourite to reveal in the new year. They tell us so much about the feel and look that so many brides are searching for in their wedding planning this year. I always think a cake can pull a whole wedding theme together, and 2019 cakes are stunning and do just that. The super talented Nina from Erzulie shares her inside scoop on whats trending this year.
1. Minimalist designs. Clean and simple.
2019 weddings like the rest of the modern world, are looking for simple rather than overwhelming. Intimate rather than over the top, and clean and classic rather than cluttered and kitschy. No more shabby chic, welcome minimalist. Cake designs are following suit and we love it.
2. Soft Colours with Metallic Touches
Blushes, creams, golds and silvers continue to adorn our cakes in 2019. They are subtle but so romantic and mix well with all venues and colour schemes.
3. Lush Greenery and Florals
Impressive florals and greenery are full swing into 2019 weddings, for good reason. Nothing says romance and class like a well arranged bouquet, floral draping or florals on your cake. Floral details aren’t all wedding cake bakers forte, so be sure to check their portfolio and get reviews before diving into a lush floral design with your baker.
4. FLAVOUR!
Brides are demanding the cake to TASTE as good as it looks. This seems obvious, but Brides are caring about the flavour above all other aspects of the cake- which is new. Nina at Erzulie meets this trending demand with some of her renowned flavours, a decadently moist carrot cake, her buttercreamy victoria sponge, and her lemon drizzle are in her classics range. Then her luxe range takes it to new depths with tiramisu, coconut & praline, and chocolate salted caramel. Mmmmmmm…….
Well if that didn’t hurt anyone trying to maintain their new years resolution, i’m not sure what will! I’m drooling at the sound of the chocolate salted caramel cake! Thank you Nina for your insight and expertise. I can’t wait to try another one of your cakes. Ladies, if you have not already booked a wedding cake baker for your day, please be sure to check out Meadowsweet Cakes. I’ve seen and tried her cakes first hand and they are works of art from the inside out.
Anyways, I hope you found this helpful as you solidify your plans for your 2019 wedding cake. We would love to hear from you if you are planning a wedding in 2019. What will your cake look like? And more importantly what FLAVOUR is it? Share with us in the comments below.
